I recently updated the website and everything is up to date. I made a few improvements and adjustments and my site is now more optimized for mobile use!
IT HAS BEEN AWHILE SINCE I HAVE UPDATED MY SITE DUE TO THE RIGOR OF MY PROGRAMS THIS PAST YEAR. SUMMER IS QUICKLY APPROACHING AS WELL AS MANY CHANGES FOR ME.
FIRST, I HAVE COMPLETE MY MUSIC CREDENTIAL AND WILL BE THE BAND TEACHER AT QUIMBY OAK MIDDLE SCHOOL IN SAN JOSE, CA NEXT FALL. I WAS AMONG A SMALL COHORT TO COMPLETE A 1-YR CREDENTIAL AT SAN JOSE STATE UNIVERSITY THAT WILL SEE ABOUT 80% OF ITS TEACHERS PASS AND FIND JOBS IN THE COUNTY. I AM LEAVING WITH THE HONOR OF RECEIVING ONE OF THE HIGHEST SCORES FOR A MUSIC EDUCATOR IN THE PROGRAM AND TWO OF THE HIGHEST HONOR SCHOLARSHIPS FOR MY WORK IN THE FIELD OF MUSIC AND EDUCATION.
SECONDLY, I AM ENDING THE RECORDING SECTION OF THE WEBSITE. AT THIS TIME, I AM UNABLE TO MANAGE THE LOAD OF TEACHING, PERFORMING, AND WORKING FULL-TIME TO TAKE ON THESE TYPES OF ENGAGEMENT OTHER THAN FINISHING MY OWN PROJECTS.
NEXT, I WILL BE UPDATING PICTURES, RECORDINGS, COMPOSITIONS AS FAST AS I CAN. I CURRENTLY WILL BE BUSY MANAGING THE SUMMER JAZZ CAMP FOR SAN JOSE JAZZ, GETTING MARRIED, AND PREPARING FOR MY NEW JOB. RECORDINGS OF RECENT RECORDINGS WILL COME FIRST, THEN SOME OF MY WORK FROM THE PAST YEAR WITH COMPOSITIONS. PLEASE INQUIRE IF YOU ARE INTERESTED BEFORE I POST!
LASTLY, I WILL BE TAKING STUDENTS THROUGH THE SUMMER AND EARLY NEXT YEAR. AVAILABLE TIME SLOTS ARE BASED ON MY AVAILABILITY, WHICH WILL BE UPDATED REGULARLY WITH A NEW CALENDAR.
As a part of San Jose State's recent spotlight on philanthropy, I have been featured on SJSU's website and blog for my recent nomination for a merit scholarship. I received the Katherine Peterson Scholarship through the university's Alumni Association based on need, community service, and merit. It was really nice (and flattering) to be apart of it. I think the second photo is pretty silly, but I've coined it the 'Smell of Jazz' photo.
Happy Hallows friends!
This year is coming to a close very quickly!Things have been going very well for me, my students, and many of my projects. If you didn't know, I now teach regularly at a few different sites. Since July I have been teaching at Legato Music School in Cupertino. The students here are great and it has been very fun. I am accepting students at this location now of all ages.
The band program at St. Leo's of San Jose is now if full swing. The program has 12 students in trumpet, trombone, saxophone, clarinet, and flute. They are doing wonderfully and I look forward to our spring concert!
Very recently I began teaching at Monticello private school in Sana Clara. I am now teaching beginning trumpet and band lessons here. Mrs. Natalie Haworth-Liu directs this program and she had an excellent group of kids who are very fun to work with.
On a personal basis, I have successfully completed a suite if music dedicated to baseball that will be premiered Nov. 6th at San Jose State University at 7:30pm. Please look for music excerpts in the coming weeks.
I am also in the process of writing a lot of new music. The goal was to expand my skills but more importantly, to expand my outreach of my company. Look for a new section to G.O. Music Co. with score excerpts and full-arrangements for purchase and download. I will be applying for the ASCAP Young Jazz Composers Competition as well as the Downbeat Student Awards this year in hopes of a nomination to cap the year off.
Soon, a new division will open on this website. I have reinvested my efforts to continue my audio engineering skills and G.O. Recording Co. will launch in the coming weeks. This division will specialize in live recording, mixing, mastering, and production of student music and local bands in the San Jose area. Be in the lookout for a new logo and information on pricing as well as samples of my work. Contact me through the website if you are interested in having me record your project.
Many thanks to all of my friends and family, students, and supporters. I am starting to see some fruits of my hard labor and I am looking forward to the coming year's worth of work, music, and finished projects.
Just wanted to mention that the site has been recently updated and now has many audio samples available for you to listen to. Please check them out!
If you haven't liked The Identity Crisis yet on Facebook, we'd love your support. We are nearing 100 likes!
Lastly, I am accepting students at my newest location in Campbell at Music Village on Foxworthty and Union Ave. Currently I am accepting students for Saturdays there, but I am available for travel for in home lessons as always.
